Description:
In a joint event with Crouch End Festival, the Friends of Hornsey Library welcome Andrew Whitehead - ex-BBC World Service news editor, historian, lecturer, freelance journalist, well known to many of us as the author of Curious Crouch End. In 1911 the East End saw a hugely dramatic event - the most sensational shoot-out in London’s history. In his latest book, A Devilish Kind of Courage Andrew unravels the full story of Winston Churchill, Peter the Painter and the Siege of Sidney Street, the nationwide sensation which ignited fierce debates on immigration, political extremism and law enforcement. Tickets are £10, including a glass of wine or soft drink. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/andrew-whitehead-on-the-siege-of-sidney-street-tickets-890930726787?aff=oddtdtcreator
