Description:
Event DetailsThe photographic group THIRTEEN are pleased to be returning to The Original Gallery in April. It will be their third exhibition at this light and spacious venue in the heart of Crouch End.
As a group of accomplished award-winning photographers, THIRTEEN have many solo and group exhibitions to their credit, both in the UK and abroad.
As usual, there is no common theme. The thirteen members have a broad range of interests and experiences and use a variety of techniques to achieve their final image. Each image, or set of images, is imbued with the photographer’s unique perspective and this will be reflected in the work you see on display.
Some images have been made on film and processed in the darkroom; in one set items of detritus salvaged from the natural world are combined together, resulting in something otherworldly. Another set is made using a zoom lens to create semi-abstract compositions from a more concrete landscape, blurring the lines between the two worlds. A lonely walk home through a strange town explores how human activity alters the reality of our surroundings.
Two photographers have looked at different aspects of emigration, the loss of home and feeling nostalgic for a place that no longer exists. Others have drawn inspiration from the natural world, some finding humour and quirkiness in the natural beauty that surrounds us – others using black and white to give a different and more unusual perspective to flowers. A city break in Seville results in unexpected gifts and nice day out at the seaside perhaps hints that we have more in common than we don’t!
While some images may appear more straightforward, or direct – things aren’t always as they seem at first glance. We invite you, the viewer, to interpret these in your own way.
We look forward to seeing you in the gallery between 22nd April and 4th May.
