National Numeracy Day has been held annually since 2018 to highlight the importance of numbers for daily life, such as managing money, helping children with homework and to boost number confidence. Come to Stroud Green to create your own number sequences, take it home and practise numbers!
Elmer Day is a colourful celebration of David Mckee's patchwork elephant, Elmer.
This year, we are celebrating on Saturday 24th May.
This annual event encourages both children and adults to celebrate the core themes of the Elmer stories: diversity, kindness and creativity.
Come along to Muswell Hill Library and celebrate this day with us by making your own Elmer the elephant face mask. Have fun colouring it in, cutting in out and trying it on!
We love Bees, and so does Maisy Mouse. It’s World Bee Day, so we will be reading some stories about our little buzzing friends, and Maisy will help to tell us all about them.
You might also get some good ideas about the type of storybooks you want to borrow and read at home.
🐝We celebrate World Bee Day globally on the 20th of May.
🐝Bees are amazing!
Did you know that bees are very important little insects that help keep our world healthy and happy? They help plants grow by moving pollen from flower to flower. This gives us lots of the food we eat.🎨
Celebrate World Bee Day by making your very own paper bumblebee and learn more about these busy little helpers.
World Day for Cultural Diversity is celebrated every year on 21st May.
Come and join us at the library for a special Rhyme Time to celebrate people, languages, and cultures from around the world.
This Rhyme Time session will include fun songs and rhymes in English, Portuguese, and Albanian.
Come and colour your way to calm. Join us for mandala style coulouring and free hot drink and biscuits. This one hour session will give you a chance for some relaxing me time.
An illustrated talk exploring the long and murky history of why the Haringey / Harringay / Hornsey name has had so many spellings and continues to cause confusion today.
About the speaker:
Hugh Flouch, a member of the Hornsey Historical Society’s Publications Committee has been a prolific writer and is a published author on the history of Hornsey and Wood Green. A keen researcher into the less illuminated corners of the area’s history, he has been exploring the toponymical history of the area for twenty years.
If you enjoy singing, even if you don’t have any experience of being in a choir, London Youth Choirs (LYC) invites you, your parents/guardians, siblings, wider family and friends to join us for a FREE Family Come & Sing event in TOTTENHAM! The songs we will learn together are most suitable for children aged 6-11yrs old but younger siblings are welcome when they are accompanied by their grown-ups.
The workshop will be friendly and welcoming – no experience of singing is necessary! There will be warm-up activities, fun songs to try out and you’ll also get to meet other children from your area. If you enjoy the workshop and would like to join one of our LYC choirs, there will be information on the day on how to join and we will be in touch after the session and available if you have any questions. There will be a break with FREE soft drinks, fruit and biscuits.
The workshop is completely FREE OF CHARGE and you don’t need to bring anything special along with you.
